Flight
So, I just booked my flight. I would've like to book it a little bit later just so I'm more financially secure but the deadline to send my visa application just passed and on it I had to put the exact days I was leaving and returning :\ But I'm sending in the materials tomorrow because I just received my passport (I applied for that last minute too) and it should be there in 2-3 days. I hate doing everything under pressure but I couldn't do anything early because I didn't know if I was accepted or in good enough financial shape yet. I got accepted but money is going to be tight from now on. The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship is what I was banking on to fund my trip but since I gave up the study abroad idea for a good 2 months, I missed the deadline and now I'm having to pay for everything on my own. I might have to take out a loan but I AM going to make this possible. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't want to miss it! I found a good deal on the plane ticket...$1100 vs. $1800 the STS company's charge (such a ripoff!) so I'm pleased. The cost even included travel insurance ^^

Beginning of the Journey 11/21/09
So. I got the acceptance from AsiaLearn a couple of days ago. I applied really late (it was very last minute) and I'm still uncertain if I am able to go. All it really boils down to is money. The program costs around $14,000 and I only get $11,000 so I am applying for some study abroad scholarships. I'm REALLY hoping that I get them or else the experience would be rather bland if I had to be stingy 24/7 over there. On top of that, I still have to scrounge up the funds to take Anatomy 2 at Clemson when I get back (around $1500-2000) because they don't offer it abroad and it is the most imperative class I have to take. I wish I could just take it online...
But life is what I make it and sometimes one must sacrifice one thing for another. I'm sacrificing financial stability and the easy schedule I have setup for next semester so I can have an amazing experience abroad with no strings attached (kinda). A lot of people say that studying abroad while in college is one of the most worthwhile experiences in a lifetime and I don't want to miss out on that.
